Well, the mild winter decided to show some teeth and with all the snow and icy waters, there is not much left to do but tie some more flies. Here is some recently tied fly fishing ammo…

WINTER ACTION

I fished this morning and it was really fun. It’s hard to believe it’s January – long live the mild winter! It was too slippery to play with my camera (dropping it in the water wouldn’t be too fun for sure) so I only took a few quick snapshots with my cell phone.

I smell like fish and I like it!

CELLPHONOGRAPHY

Cellphonography – the hobby of photography using only your cellular phone. That’s what Urban Dictionary says. I say cell phones still take lousy photos but what the hell – with all the apps, it can even be fun sometimes!

IT’S BEEN A FUN YEAR

Indeed it was a fun year and I went fishing every chance I got but of course – it was not enough. It just never is. Danube roach, sneep, chub, pike, barbel, trout, grayling, asp, carp, vimbas, largemouth bass, perch… Hell yes it was fun! I can’t wait for the next season to start! The waiting is the least fun part anyhow.

Here are a few shots from 2011. season…

REMEMBERING GEORGE

It has been ten years since “the silent Beatle”, George Harrison, passed away. One of the greatest musicians of all times, the great harmony maker, incredible guitarist who never played a single unnecessary note. He may be gone but he left an indelible mark on music. Here are a few great ones to remember George!

ROSS CLA REEL

The first thing I want to say about Ross CLA (Cimarron Large Arbor) reel is that it is one of those products that look very different when you see them in photos and when you actually have one in your hand. I was pretty impressed when I got my CLA reel and the reel was quite a surprise both cosmetically and mechanically. The CLA reel is a beautifully designed reel, fully machined out of proprietary aluminum alloy and fully anodized, in other words, the CLA reel is built like a tank and the moment you grab one, you know that this is the strong, resistant and reliable piece of machinery.

The drag mechanism is smooth, heat resistant and provides incredible stopping power, especially in larger models. If you are a pike addict, carp maniac or the saltwater junkie, this reel will do the job! Of course, the smaller sized CLA reels make excellent choice for trout, grayling or cyprinide species. In fact, these reels are available to cover any line from #2 all to #13wt. for single handed and from #6 to #12wt. for spey rods which means you can use the CLA reel for pretty much any fish out there. The CLA reels are very affordable and they are a great value for the money.

If you are looking for a friendly priced, nicely designed, durable and tough reel with a strong and dependable drag, with the CLA series you just cannot go wrong. Do I have to mention that like any other Ross reel, the CLA is also covered by a lifetime warranty? Check out the Ross website for details.
